After I install Steam it gives me an error and say "steam. Go into properties, compatibility, check Run as Administrator. If that doesn't work, set it to XP SP3 compatibility mode. Try to take ownership of the steam. In steam folder remove everything but steam. I had a similar problem with another program java in this case. The thing that evetually worked was after uninstalling it and deleting all left over files manually to re-install it in a different path. If I used the same path again, same problem, but when selecting a different path it worked.
Uninstalled it, Reinstalled it and when i got the error message click OK, you should still have a steam. Reboot your system into safe mode and run the steam.
Everything updated and my steam is now working again. I am now installing modern warfare Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. I have a very small and simple third party program that requires NetFramework 1. I am able to successfully install Netframwork 1.
I plan to contact Microsoft direct to try and get it to work on Windows I use this program to control and program several VERY expensive, external audio devices. These external audio devices and now discontinued and the remote control program will never be updated.
However, these audio devices should last me a lifetime as long as I can use the remote control program. Dual boot 7 and 10 may be an option for me but, I will have to look into it. I may end up having to get a small laptop specifically for controlling and programming these devices. I would use Windows 7 for the laptops OS and never put the laptop online. Well, I guess I would put the laptop online just to get all of the Windows 7 updates and then take it offline for good.
I just wanted to see if Steam will always support Windows 7 and sadly, this doesn't seem to be the case. I do think that it's very wrong not to be refunded for my games when Steam no longer supports Windows 7. This basically means that my games will be taken away from me without a refund for something that is out of my hands.
I'm sure there are others that need to use older OS's for compatibility reasons. I feel that if you purchased a game on Windows 7, you should always be able to use the game on Windows 7.
Just so I fully understand, I will always need to update the Windows OS if I want to keep being able to use my games, correct?
This is because, at some point Steam will no longer support the current OS. Will I always be able to play that games that are currently in my Steam library regardless of how old they are, if I keep my OS up to date? Thanks for the feedback everyone! Microsoft won't bother supporting deprecated and non-updated stuff, though. I'd suggest, contacting the people who produced those items, instead, and see if they have any suggestions. I wouldn't normally suggest this but have you tried scouring Reddit for a section pertaining to this program? I get the impression that it's the kind of obscure yet indispensable program that people would want to keep working by any means necessary. That would mean that someone out there has already encountered and perhaps solved your problem - your Google-fu may need to be mighty strong to find them but Because if so: don't.
